Everything this site stores on your device
| Name | Set by | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
erleg_consent | First party cookie | Records your cookie choice so the banner stops asking. | 6 months |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) | Measures how many people visit and which pages they read. Loaded only after you accept. | Up to 2 years |
You can change your mind at any time: reopen the cookie choice.
Why the list is this short
We built the site without an advertising stack. There is no Facebook pixel, no remarketing tag, no session recorder, no chat widget calling home, and no embedded map loading from somewhere else. Fonts, styles and scripts are served from our own domain, so opening a page does not announce your visit to a third party.
It is not a privacy stance so much as a design one: every one of those things slows the site down, and we would rather it were fast.
Before you choose
Until you answer the cookie banner, this site stores nothing on your device at all — no cookie, no local-storage entry, nothing.
Once you answer, a single cookie records your choice so the banner stops asking. The analytics entries in the table above are loaded only if you accepted, and you can change your mind at any time from the link under the table.
If you log in
WordPress sets session cookies for people who log in to administer the site. Visitors never receive them.
Links that leave this site
Clicking through to WhatsApp, Instagram or LinkedIn takes you to services that set their own cookies under their own policies. We have no control over what they do and we receive nothing back from them.
The same goes for the Wikimedia Commons links under some of our photographs, which are there to credit the photographer.
How to control cookies yourself
Every browser can block or delete cookies, and can do it per site. Look for “Privacy” or “Site settings” in your browser’s preferences. Blocking cookies from this site costs you nothing, because we set none on the public pages.
If this ever changes
If we switch on analytics, a consent banner appears and the analytics script does not load until you accept it. Declining is a real choice, not a smaller button: the site behaves identically either way, and we do not ask again.
