Estate for groups and events

For sixteen to forty people, or for a wedding, the format changes: large grounds, eight to fifteen or more bedrooms often split between a main house and annexes, and a property that permits events. Not every large villa allows them, and that permission is the first thing to establish, before anything else.

What changes at this size

Below sixteen people you are choosing a house. Above it you are running a small operation: catering, transport for everyone, bedroom allocation, and a schedule. The property matters less than whether it is set up to absorb a group.

Bedroom configuration beats bedroom count

Fifteen bedrooms sounds generous until you find four of them are in an annexe across the garden and two share a bathroom. Ask for a floor plan and a bed-by-bed breakdown: how many are genuine doubles, how many twins, which have en suites, and what is separate from the main house. Allocating rooms among friends is where group holidays go wrong.

Events are a permission, not an assumption

Many large properties near Marrakech do not allow parties, amplified music or outside suppliers, and some have curfews imposed by neighbours or local rules. If you are planning anything more than a family dinner, establish in writing what is permitted, until what time, and whether you must use the property’s own caterer.

Getting everyone there

A group arriving on different flights across a day needs a plan. Minibuses, several transfers, or a driver on standby — decided in advance, not improvised at the airport with twenty people and their luggage.

What varies most between properties

Event permission is the largest variable, followed by catering model: some estates require their own kitchen team, others let you bring a caterer, a few leave you to it entirely. Then the annexe question — how much of the sleeping capacity is actually in the main house — and whether there is enough covered outdoor space for the group if the weather turns.

What people most often get wrong

Booking on headline capacity and sorting the details later. By the time you discover that music must stop at eleven, that six of the beds are in a separate building, or that the caterer is contractually fixed, the deposit is paid. Everything that matters at this size should be established in writing before payment.

Common questions

Can you hold a wedding at a villa in Marrakech?

At some properties yes, at many no. Event permission, noise curfews and whether outside suppliers are allowed vary enormously and are often restricted. Confirm all three in writing before paying anything.

How many people can a large Marrakech estate sleep?

Commonly sixteen to forty across a main house and annexes, and some properties take more. The useful number is not the total but how many are in genuine double or twin rooms with their own bathroom.

Do we need to use the property's caterer?

Sometimes. Some estates require their own kitchen team for any event, some allow an approved list, some let you bring anyone. It materially changes the budget, so ask early.
