Where groups come unstuck
Not the driving. The arithmetic.
Twelve people arriving on three different flights, a villa forty minutes out of town, and a dinner booking at eight. Each of those is easy alone. Together they are a logistics problem, and the usual failure is discovering at the airport that the vehicle booked for twelve holds twelve people but not twelve suitcases.
Vehicle sizes, in practice
- Saloon — three passengers with modest luggage. Four adults with four cases does not work, whatever the seat count says.
- Minivan — six to eight with luggage, the workhorse for most groups.
- Minibus — from around twelve upward, and the point at which you should ask specifically about the luggage hold rather than the seats.
- Two vehicles — beyond that. Which is fine, but decide who goes in which car before you are standing in arrivals at midnight.
Staggered arrivals
Groups rarely land together. The two options are a vehicle per arrival, or one vehicle doing several runs with people waiting at the airport in between.
The second is cheaper and almost always regretted. An hour in Menara arrivals after a flight sours the start of a trip more than the saving is worth.
During the stay
If the group is in a villa outside the city, budget for a vehicle on standby rather than on call. Twelve people do not move spontaneously, and the gap between “we should head into town” and everyone actually being in a car is longer than anyone expects.
For dinners, agree the return time with the driver before you go in. Restaurants in the medina are a walk from any road, and coordinating a group in a dark lane at midnight is much easier when the meeting point was decided at eight.
Things worth saying out loud in advance
- Total number of people and total number of bags
- Whether anyone needs a child seat, and the child’s age
- Whether anyone has mobility needs, since medina access involves walking and steps
- Whether the group will split during the stay, which changes what you need parked outside
EliteRak coordinates group transport alongside the stay — arrivals across different flights, vehicles sized to the luggage and not only the headcount, and a single person to call when the plan changes.
Common questions
How many people fit in a minivan?
Six to eight with luggage. The seat count is not the limit — the boot is. Always give the number of bags as well as the number of people.
We are arriving on different flights. What is best?
A vehicle per arrival, if the budget allows. One vehicle doing several runs means someone waits an hour in arrivals, which costs less and feels worse.
Do we need a vehicle for the whole stay?
If the group is in a villa outside the city, yes, in practice. Groups move slowly and ordering transport each time becomes the bottleneck.
Can you handle mobility needs?
Tell us in advance. The constraint is rarely the vehicle — it is medina access, which involves uneven lanes and steps a car cannot reach.
