Villa Al Assala

A walled property on the Route de Fès, four kilometres into the Palmeraie, built around a domed pavilion with a long pool in front of it and olive trees either side. It is run as a maison d’hôtes: suites rather than a whole house, a kitchen that cooks for guests, and a treatment room. The scale suits couples and small groups who want a garden and staff without the machinery of a hotel.

Highlights

  • Domed pavilion facing a long garden pool
  • Mature olives and palms across the plot
  • Suites rather than hotel rooms
  • In-house table for guests
  • Four kilometres into the palm grove

The setting

The plot sits four kilometres along the Route de Fès, inside the palm grove rather than on its edge. The centrepiece is a domed pavilion facing a long pool, with terraces and mature olives around it. Walls on all sides mean the garden stays private.

How it is run

This is a maison d’hôtes, not a villa let as a single unit: the house offers suites, cooks for its guests, and runs a small wellness room. Exclusive use of the whole property is possible and is quoted separately.

What to check before booking

The area

Route de Fès runs north-east out of Marrakech into the Palmeraie. At kilometre four you are in the grove proper: walled plots, dirt lanes between them, very little noise. It is a drive to everything, which is exactly what people come here for.

What the photos won't tell you

Every listing in the world photographs the pool from its best corner, and no photograph answers the questions that decide a stay. So before you commit, we put the following in writing for your dates:

  • How far the car gets, and how many metres and steps remain with the luggage.
  • Who the neighbours are, and what you will hear at five in the morning.
  • Whether the pool is heated, and in which months that decides whether you swim.
  • What “staffed” covers — who is there, at what hours, and who cooks.
  • Where the wifi actually reaches, not just where the router is.
  • Which of the property’s own photographs were taken with a wide-angle lens, and what a room looks like from the doorway.

Common questions

Is it a villa or a riad?

The owners use both words. In practice it is a walled property in the Palmeraie with a garden and a pool, run as a maison d’hôtes — not a riad in the medina sense of a house built around an interior courtyard.

Can we rent the whole property?

Yes, on request. Exclusive use is quoted separately from individual suites.

How many people does it sleep?

That depends on how the suites are configured for your dates, so we confirm it in writing rather than publish a figure that might not apply.
